Virginity's Impact on Society and Culture
The acceptance of this construct has become so normalized throughout the past decades that we as a society are just now recognizing how deeply it has infiltrated our everyday lives. We are so comfortable succumbing to the holds of virginity that we find ourselves uncomfortable with sex as a whole. Rather than being able to freely discuss sexual experience it has become more socially acceptable to use euphemisms like “pop your cherry” or “bumping uglies.”
This discomfort, both regarding extramarital and marital sexual relations, is a direct result of virginity culture. It has become easier to ignore and repress sexual knowledge and experience than it is to properly have conversations on the subject. The arguments explored attack this directly.
